blessventures
My kids know this about me: I look at each day, each micro-moment, as a possible new adventure. A chance to learn something. A blessing.
Not in a you-have-to-be-happy-all-the-time kind of way, but in a perspective kind of way. Life is full of seconds and minutes, and each one is a gift.
Even sadness, to me, is a connection — a reminder that I’m alive and paying attention.
We live a very charmed life — and by charmed, I mean blessed. If I listed out all the bonkers opportunities I’ve made in my life, if I tried to put them on a page, I’d probably end up in tears from sheer gratitude. Life just doesn’t stop giving back.
Give me all the moments.
And because of that, I believe deeply in giving back. Not just financially, though that has its place. But in ways that feel personal and human — giving your time, your heart space, your genuine compliments, your smile. The little things that, strung together, actually aren’t little at all.
All of that being said, the Blessventure is here.
Everyday life in Kotor has been one Blessventure after another. The simple blessing of walking to and from school together. The kids learning from their wonderful teacher, Dani, and diving into art and cultural lessons during this four-week unit. Weekly field trips. Opportunities to join the community.
Afterschool has its own Blessventures: water polo, the national sport here, and Spartan Challenge, led by the kind of epic human who makes you want to push your limits just by being in the same space.
Boundless even takes care of snacks and meals during the day — healthy, regional foods that stretch the kids’ palates and meet every dietary need. They even give them a snack before heading home, which means no unraveling the moment they walk in the door. Next-level parenting magic.
As a family, we’ve had our share too. Snorkeling for the first time thanks to Patricia, otherwise known as the Boundless Experience Champion, who connected us with Zoran — a boat captain living out his dream for 25+ years. Or Aimee, a seasoned Boundless mom, who introduced everyone to Suzana, a local woman with an epic story and the gift of cooking meals that feel priceless, yet are offered for just a small exchange. Aimee and her husband even organize side adventures: ladies’ lunches, guys’ nights, special dinners that give everyone a little extra magic.
And when I think about the greater education I want for my children, it isn’t about being the best at math — unless that’s what excites them. It’s about these very things. The humany things. The things so many people seem to overlook. And yet here, in this program, with this Boundless team in Kotor, Montenegro, they are front and center.
Because in the end, it isn’t just about adventure — it’s about the Blessventures. The art of noticing the big, small, ordinary, extraordinary. Learning and living wrapped together. And that’s the path we’re really on.
